Renowned Egyptian football figure and former player, Ahmed Shobeir, has confirmed that Al Ahly has reached an agreement to sign a promising African pair from the group of five currently undergoing trials.
The club aims to add these talents to the first-team roster during the ongoing winter transfer window.
Speaking on the “CAN 2023” program aired on ON Time Sports 1, Shobeir revealed that Al Ahly has settled on two players from the group of five African prospects under the age limit.
The remaining three will depart with the possibility of returning for further evaluation in the summer.
The announcement of the signing of this duo is expected in the coming hours.
Shobeir disclosed that the two African prospects under consideration are a left-back and a striker.
The finalization of their contracts with Al Ahly is set to be completed shortly, marking their inclusion in the team’s lineup in the near future.
Ahly’s Youthful Assessments
Earlier, Al Ahly had brought in five young African players for trials based on scouting reports, aiming to assess their potential for acquisition during the current winter transfer window.
This initiative is part of the vision of the team’s head coach, Marcel Koller.
