Egypt’s top football club, Al Ahly, swept past Mahalla Municipality with a five-goal haul to one in a match held on Tuesday evening at Cairo International Stadium.
This encounter marked the fifth round of the Egyptian Premier League.
Scoring for Ahly were Wissam Abu Ali, netting two goals in the 4th and 48th minutes respectively, Karim Fouad at the 14th minute, Reda Selim at the 43rd minute, and Anthony Modeste at the 73rd minute.
Mahalla Municipality’s lone goal came from Hossam Ashraf with a penalty kick at the 86th minute.
With this outcome, Ahly elevates its tally to 17 points, securing the ninth spot in the league standings, while Mahalla Municipality halts at 13 points, positioning them thirteenth.
Swiss coach Marcel Koller, the head coach of Al Ahly, announced the lineup for the team’s match against Mahalla Municipality at Cairo International Stadium, a fixture postponed from the fifth round of the Egyptian Premier League.
Al Ahly returns to the Premier League after an approximately three-month hiatus due to its participation in the FIFA Club World Cup, the Egyptian Super Cup, and the international break owing to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
