Marcel Koller, the head coach of Al Ahly Club, has formally requested a report from the team’s doctor, Dr. Ahmed Gaballah, regarding the progress of the injured players who were excluded from the trip to the United Arab Emirates for a preparatory camp.
These players are currently undergoing their rehabilitation programs in Cairo and engaging in physical training at the club’s gym.
Koller’s intention is to gain insights into the condition of each player and determine their expected return to group training.
This initiative aims to ensure the optimal preparation of all players for upcoming challenges, especially considering that the international players will return shortly before the match against CR Belouizdad.
There is a concern about potential fatigue or injuries due to their lack of rest compared to other players.
Therefore, Koller is contemplating a gradual reduction in their physical workload in the coming period.
Marcel Koller chose to exclude the injured players from the trip to the UAE, namely: Rida Slim, Ahmed Nabil “Koka,” Mahmoud Metwally, and Ahmed Abdelkader from the camp.
The Swiss coach, Marcel Koller, is closely monitoring the matches of CR Belouizdad from Algeria, both in the league and the CAF Champions League.
His objective is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the Algerian champions before their upcoming encounter in the group stage after the hiatus caused by the African Cup of Nations.
Al Ahly recently clinched the Egyptian Super Cup title held in the UAE, securing victory over Mouloudia Fouchana with a 4-2 scoreline in the final match.
Ahly is set for an extended break due to the suspension of domestic competitions for Egypt’s participation in the African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
The team will resume matches in the second half of February, facing CR Belouizdad in the CAF Champions League.
