CAMEROON U23 FINALLY LEAVE NAIROBI AFTER VISA ORDEAL, ARRIVE IN ZIMBABWE FOR AFRICAN GAMES QUALIFIER
The Cameroon U23 national team has finally arrived in Harare, Zimbabwe, after being stranded for two days at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport due to visa complications. The team is scheduled to face Zimbabwe this Sunday in a crucial qualifying match for the 2015 African Games in Brazzaville, Congo.
This incident is yet another in a series of administrative and logistical mishaps affecting Cameroon’s national teams:
-
The U17 team previously faced a similar ordeal at Casablanca airport en route to Niamey for the U17 AFCON.
-
On January 16, the senior national team was nearly evicted from their hotel in Libreville during their training camp due to unpaid bills, despite budget allocations reportedly being approved well in advance.
-
Again, on January 29, during the 30th Africa Cup of Nations, the team faced issues with ten hotel rooms being blocked for non-payment. The matter was later described as a “room issue poorly handled by hotel managers.”
The repeated logistical failures have drawn criticism from the public and football stakeholders, highlighting a pattern of neglect and poor planning within Cameroon’s football administration.
