The organizing committee for the Africa Cup of Nations 2023 is in full swing, making the final preparations for the opening ceremony and the inaugural match featuring the Ivory Coast and Guinea-Bissau.
Less than 48 hours before the African celebration kicks off, the preparations at the opening stadium for the Africa Cup of Nations 2023 are proceeding apace.
The tournament is scheduled to take place in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, 2024, with the participation of 24 national teams.
The Hassan Wattara Stadium is set to host the grand opening ceremony and the inaugural match on Saturday, January 13, where the Ivory Coast, the host nation, will face Guinea-Bissau at 10:00 PM Cairo time.
The second match in Group A between Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea will follow on Sunday.
One of the six stadiums hosting the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations 2023, the Hassan Wattara Stadium is situated in the Ivorian capital, Abidjan.
It will witness both the opening and final matches of the prestigious tournament.
Opened in 2020, the Hassan Wattara Stadium has a seating capacity of 60,000 spectators.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) captured the behind-the-scenes preparations at the stadium, highlighting the strong presence of the organizing committee led by Amichia Francois Albert and officials from the African Union.
