Algeria forward Anis Hadj Moussa says his outfit will fight and give their all in the high-stake quarterfinals clash against Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The North African football heavyweights narrowly triumphed over DR Congo to set up a tie against the Super Eagles, who made light work of Mozambique to a book a place in the quarterfinals.

The much-anticipated clash between Algeria and DR Congo travelled to extra-time after a pulsating goalless draw in regular time, with Adel Boulbina’s rocket shot strike in the 118th-minute securing victory for the North African country over the Leopards.

Speaking ahead of the match, Anis Hadj Moussa, who plies his trade for Feyenoord stressed his side will give their all against Nigeria in order to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament.

“The Democratic Republic of Congo national team is very strong and includes outstanding players, and we also have excellent players.”

“We never gave up, we gave it our all, and we managed to score in the final moments, and it was fantastic to achieve that.”

“There is no such thing as a starting player and a substitute player; every match is an opportunity for the players. We tried to be at the highest level of concentration on the field, so it can be said that everyone is at the same level.” He said as quoted by Moroccan website Al-Botola.

“The problem with Victor Osimhen? I don’t know if he’s out of the picture or not. All I know is that Osimhen is an important player, and we have other outstanding players as well.”

The Feyenoord striker concluded, “We will not give up, and we will continue to fight and give everything we have against Nigeria.”

Algeria will lock horns with the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the Marrakech Stadium on January 10, 2026, with both teams seeking for a win to secure a place in the semifinals of the tournament.

The last encounter between Algeria and Nigeria dates back to the semi-finals of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, during which the Greens achieved victory by two goals to one. Algeria went ahead to secure the title for the second time in their history during the 2019 tournament.
