Mali coach Tom Saintfiet insists his outfit is ready for a fierce battel against Senegal in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
In high-stake clash on Friday, January 9, 2026, the Eagles of Mali will lock horns with the Taranga Lions of Senegal at the Tangier Stadium.
It promises to be a thrilling encounter, as both teams will be yearning for victory to secure a place in the semifinals of the continental showpiece.
Despite tagging Senegal as the favourite, Tom Saintfiet has declared his side readiness for the titanic clash.
“Tomorrow, we will face the strongest team in the quarter-finals. Last year, Senegal only lost to Brazil and beat England. They are a consistent team with great scoring talent. Tomorrow’s match will be difficult. Senegal are the favorites, but we have a chance.”
“Reaching the quarter-finals is always a special moment. We have prepared well for the match, the recovery process has gone well, and the whole team is ready. We are ready for a fierce battle, without any fear.”
“Senegal is a very strong team, one of the best teams on the continent, and they have great quality, but I think we can pull off a surprise against them tomorrow” he concluded.
