Morocco coach Walid Regragui expressed his immense joy after leading the Atlas Lions back to the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals for the first time in 22 years following their victory over Cameroon.

Speaking after the match, Regragui said: “I want to thank the players, we are a family even though many people didn’t believe in us and didn’t believe in me. We came here to write history, and after 20 years Morocco are back in the semi-final.” His words reflected both pride and defiance, as he addressed the doubts that surrounded the team before the tournament.

He continued: “Thank God I don’t listen to anyone. I’m stubborn. Just have good intentions and stay with us, because if there is no sincerity things will be difficult.” Regragui stressed that the job is not finished yet, despite the emotional milestone.

“We haven’t done anything yet, we must remain humble and make this people, who have suffered with us, happy,” he added, dedicating the qualification to Moroccan fans and calling for unity and continued support in the final stretch of the competition.
