Senegal will head into the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final against hosts Morocco without two important players, after both were ruled out through suspension.
The showpiece takes place on Sunday at Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat, where the Teranga Lions will try to retain their continental crown against a Moroccan side in outstanding form.
Morocco booked their place in the final by edging Nigeria 4–2 on penalties after a goalless draw, joining Senegal, who had earlier defeated Egypt 1–0 in Tangier. However, Senegal’s preparations have been complicated by the absence of captain Kalidou Koulibaly, who picked up another yellow card against Egypt shortly before being substituted with an injury, having already been booked in the quarter-final win over Mali.
Midfielder Habib Diarra is also suspended after receiving a caution in the previous round following a heated incident.
Both players’ suspensions, triggered by card accumulation in the knockout phase, could weigh heavily against a Morocco team with no bans to worry about and growing confidence on home soil.
