Senegal international Kalidou Koulibaly has returned to the starting lineup for the high-stake quarterfinals clash against Mali at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
The 34-year-old defender, who led Senegal to AFCON 2021 triumph missed the sides’ game against Sudan in the round 16 of the tournament after receiving the marching orders in their last group game against Benin.
Having served his one-game ban, the former Napoli and Chelsea star has been drafted into the starting lineup for the high-profile clash against Mali.
His return come as a huge boost for coach Pape Thiaw and the Senegal team at large as they push for a place in the semifinals.
Senegal succeeded in eliminating Sudan with a score of 3-1, while the Malian team won against Tunisia on penalties.
