Morocco’s Brahim Díaz delivered another match-winning performance on Sunday, netting the decisive goal in a 1–0 victory over Tanzania that propelled the Atlas Lions into the AFCON quarter-finals.
The Real Madrid midfielder struck in the 64th minute at Rabat’s Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, a finish that proved enough to secure Morocco’s place in the last eight.
Díaz’s goal marked his fourth in as many matches, making him the first Moroccan player to score in four consecutive AFCON games, surpassing a long-standing record set by national icon Ahmed Faras.
Despite his personal milestone, Díaz downplayed individual accolades, emphasizing the team’s success.
“I’m really happy to score goals in every game, but the most important thing is to be in the quarter-finals,” he said after the match.
The winning goal came from a polished team move, with fullback Achraf Hakimi setting up Díaz, who calmly converted from a tight angle. The result keeps Morocco’s title ambitions alive and highlights Díaz’s central role in the team’s attack.
His four goals have placed him atop the tournament’s scoring chart, ahead of both teammates and rivals. Having scored in all three of Morocco’s group-stage matches, Díaz has been a constant threat since the start of the competition.
As Morocco now looks ahead to the quarter-finals, Díaz’s record-breaking run positions him as a strong contender for the AFCON 2025 Golden Boot.
