Former Nigeria international Yakubu Aiyegbeni insists the Super Eagles were lucky to run away with the three maximum points against Tanzania at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations opener.
The West African football heavyweights begun the tournament with a good note, defeating the Taifa Stars 2-1 in a high-stake Group C clash.
Currently, Tunisia sit on top of their group on goal difference. Reflecting on the Super Eagles start to the tournament, the former Everton marksman admitted flaws, while urging improvement ahead of the tough game against Tunisia.
“When you look at the Tanzania game… we were lucky to get away with it.” He stressed that Tunisia will be tougher, adding, “Against Tunisia, it’s not going to be easy… organised, disciplined, and very experienced.”
Both Nigeria and Tunisia stand a chance of securing qualification to the knockout stage of the tournament with victory.
The highly competitive clash between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the3 Carthage Eagles of Tunisia has been scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
