Morocco head coach Walid Regragui has acknowledged that his team has faced multiple refereeing errors during the Africa Cup of Nations but insisted that excuses will not be part of the team’s approach moving forward.
Speaking ahead of an upcoming match, Regragui stressed the importance of maintaining focus on performance and supporting African football rather than dwelling on officiating controversies.
During a pre-match press conference, Regragui reflected on the scrutiny African refereeing often attracts.
“It is true that Africa has often been under scrutiny regarding refereeing, but we work well on our continent, and we must support it.”
“Yes, we faced several refereeing errors in matches against Tanzania, Mali, and also Cameroon, but we are not looking for excuses.”
Regragui emphasized objectivity when assessing Morocco’s performances.
“I do not want to talk about refereeing, even though we were subject to several mistakes. You can also review the last AFCON edition, but we do not hide anything in this regard,” he said.
“We must be objective. We were the better team against Cameroon for the entire match, and we should always support our continent instead of criticizing it.”
