Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Moroccan referee Jalal Jiyed for the third-place game between Egypt and Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
In a high-stake clash on Saturday, January 17, 2026, the Pharaohs will battel it out with the Super Eagles for the bronze medal at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.
The refereeing team for the match includes three North Africans (Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria), in addition to Kenya.
Jalal Jiyed officiated two games in the group stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. He took charge of the Uganda-Tanzania clash, which ended in a 1-1 draw and saw two penalty kicks awarded.
Besides, he was the centre man for the tie between Mozambique and Cameroon, which ended with the Lions winning 2-1. During the two matches, 8 yellow cards were shown.
This will be the first match that the Moroccan referee will officiate for the Egyptian national team.
