Tunisia forward Hannibal Mejbri says the team must correct all its mistakes ahead of their crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations last 16 clash against Mali.

The Carthage Eagles played out a 1-1 draw with Tanzania in their final Group C clash to secure a place in the last 16 of the continental showpiece, being held in Morocco.

Tunisia qualified for the round of 16 as the runner-up in Group C after earning four points. The Carthage Eagles will now lock horns with the Eagles of Mali on Saturday, January 3, 2026.

Speaking after the Tanzania clash, Hannibal Mejbri admitted his outfit made many mistakes costing them a win, insisting the team must improve heading into the last 16 clash against Mali.

“We wanted to win, and now we will work on the positive and negative aspects and prepare for the next match, and we hope that things will go well” he told beIN SPORTS:

“The most important thing is to qualify. We tried to keep possession of the ball to boost our confidence.”

“We made many mistakes, and if it weren’t for them, we would have succeeded in winning.”

“I stand holding the ball before the penalty kick is taken, so that whoever takes the kick can concentrate, but I am also ready to take the kick.”

Tunisia took the lead with a penalty kick by Ismail Gharbi in the 43rd minute, while Faisal Salum equalized for Tanzania.
