Egypt winger Trezeguet is battling to recover in time for his side’s quarter-final clash against Ivory Coast at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, according to updates from the Egyptian Football Association.
The Pharaohs are set to face Ivory Coast on Saturday, January 10, with concerns lingering over the fitness of several players ahead of the high-profile encounter. Hamada El Sherbini, a member of the Egyptian FA, provided insight into the team’s injury situation during a televised appearance on MBC Egypt.
Speaking about Trezeguet, El Sherbini highlighted the player’s determination to return to action.
“Trezeguet has great determination, and since the day of the match the medical staff has been making a great effort with him, and he was running around the field and wishing to participate against Ivory Coast if they qualify.
“The swelling in Trezeguet’s foot has clearly decreased, and his final position regarding participation will be determined tomorrow,” he said.
El Sherbini also addressed the situation surrounding Mohamed Hamdi, noting ongoing efforts to secure travel arrangements for further medical attention.
“We are currently trying to obtain a travel visa for Mohamed Hamdi so that he can go directly to Germany from Morocco. If this is not possible, he will return to Cairo first, and then go to Germany,” he disclosed.
