Head coach of Egypt, Hossam Hassan, believes his outfit can triumph over Ivory Cost in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
The Pharaohs, who are the recorders holders of the continental showpiece are gearing up for a high-stake quarterfinals clash against defending champions, Ivory Coast on Saturday, January 10, 2026.
It promises to be a thrilling encounter, as both teams will be seeking for victory to secure a place in the semifinals of the AFCON tournament, being held in Morocco.
At the pre-match conference, Hossam Hassan stressed his side has got great players to secure a place in the semifinals at the expense of Ivory Coast.
“We studied Ivory Coast’s style of play during the short period between the two matches. The entire tournament is difficult; there is no easy team in the Africa Cup of Nations. In this edition of the tournament, all the teams have experience.”
“The Ivory Coast national team is a big name and the title holder of the last edition, but we know our strengths and weaknesses very well, and we are working to focus on our positives and fix our negatives.”
“We have great players and I have great confidence in the players to get through the quarter-final match.”
Egypt have won the AFCON seven times in their history and are pushing for their eighth title in the 35th edition in Morocco.
