The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has announced that players of the national team will receive a financial bonus of 800 million centimes ($8 million) following their qualification to the Round of 16 at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, in recognition of their impressive performances during the group stage.
The Confederation of African Football has already outlined the prize money for teams advancing deeper into the tournament, with 1.3 billion centimes allocated for the quarterfinals, 2.5 billion centimes for the semifinals, 4 billion centimes for the runners-up and 10 billion centimes reserved for the eventual champions.
Within this framework, the Moroccan Football Federation has opted to further motivate the Atlas Lions by planning a bonus package that would surpass the 150 million centimes previously awarded to reserve team players for winning the Arab Cup should the senior team go on to lift the AFCON title.
Morocco are now preparing for their Round of 16 encounter against Tanzania, scheduled for next Sunday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
The Atlas Lions progressed to the knockout stage as winners of Group A after collecting seven points, courtesy of victories over Comoros and Zambia, along with a draw against Mali.
Tanzania, on the other hand, finished third in Group C with two points after drawing against Uganda and Tunisia, while Nigeria topped the group with a perfect record, leaving Tunisia in second place.
Morocco will head into the Round of 16 clash with added confidence, having faced Tanzania on several occasions in the past, including their most recent meeting in March during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, where the Atlas Lions secured a 2-0 victory through goals from Nayef Aguerd and Brahim Diaz.
