Morocco and Senegal are set for a blockbuster final at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, with victory crucial to securing the title.
The high-profile final between the Atlas Lions and the Taranga Lions has been scheduled to take place at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, on Sunday, January 18, 2026.
Morocco are chasing their second AFCON title just as Senegal, who last won the trophy in 2021 in Cameroon. It promises to be a thrilling encounter with both teams seeking for the covetous trophy in the North African country.
In the past 32 meetings between the two teams, Morocco have dominated Senegal with 18 victories, while Senegal has only recorded just six wins, with seven games ending in a draw. But the upcoming clash marks their first meeting at the continental showpiece.
The Atlas Lions will be hoping to maintain their dominance over Senegal in the highly competitive final tonight, while the Taranga Lions looks to upset the North African football heavyweights.
Morocco defeated Nigeria on penalties to set up a fierce final against Senegal, who narrowly defeated Egypt in the semi-final of the tournament.
Senegal have played all their matches in Tangier up to now, while Morocco will be playing their seventh game in Rabat.
The Atlas Lions will play in their fourth AFCON final and first since 2021, while Morocco will contest their second AFCON final and first since 2004. When Morocco lifted the trophy in 1976, the final stage was played in a round-robin format with no final.
The Atlas Lions will be counting on several top players including Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz, goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, Ayoub El Kaabi, Youssef En-Nesyri and others.
On the side, Senegal will enter the game with high-profile players including former Liverpool and Bayern Munich star Sadio Mane, Lassine Camara, Idrissa Gana Gueye, Krepin Diatta and others.
