The Egyptian Football Association, led by Hany Abu Rida, has sent an official congratulatory letter to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, headed by Fouzi Lekjaa, praising Morocco’s impressive organization of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The letter highlighted Egypt’s appreciation for the advanced infrastructure and high-level logistics that helped deliver a successful tournament.
The message described Morocco’s hosting as a clear reflection of the major progress the country has made in staging major sporting events. It also emphasized the warm welcome and generous hospitality offered to the Egyptian delegation throughout their stay, noting that this spirit embodied the deep historical and fraternal ties between the Egyptian and Moroccan peoples.
In its closing lines, the Egyptian FA expressed confidence that cooperation between football officials in both countries will continue to grow, serving the ambitions of fans in Egypt and Morocco and strengthening the presence of Arab football on the continental and international stage.
The letter came in the wake of controversial comments made by Egypt coach Hossam Hassan after the 1-0 semi-final defeat to Senegal, when he implicitly criticized Moroccan fans for strongly backing Senegal at the stadium in Tangier. He and his brother Ibrahim had also clashed with supporters earlier in the tournament, adding sensitivity to the situation.
