Egypt have been dealt a huge blow ahead of their crucial clash against Benin in the last 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
The Pharaohs, who are seeking for their eighth AFCON title has suffered a major setback, with striker Osama Faisal succumbing to an injury prior to the Benin match.
The 25-year-old, who plies his trade for National Bank in the Egyptian Premier League picked up a foot contusion and is currently undergoing rehabilitation exercises.
However, Osama Faisal is expected to miss the high-stake clash against Benin due to the setback, with both teams seeking for victory to progress to the last 8 of the tournament.
“He is also close to missing the match against Benin due to this injury.” A source close to FilGoal.com revealed.
Egypt qualified for the round of 16 after topping Group B with wins against Zimbabwe and South Africa, and a draw with Angola.
The Pharaohs are keen about winning the Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco, having gone over ten years without winning the title. Egypt last AFCON success was back in 2010, defeating Ghana in the finals, held in Angola.
