Head coach of Egypt, Hossam Hassan has provided an injury update on midfielder Mohanad Lasheen ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations last 16 clash against Benin.
The high-stake much between Egypt and Benin has been scheduled to take place at the Adrar Stadium in Agadir on Monday, with both teams seeking for victory to secure a place in the quarterfinals.
The 29-year-old, who plies his trade for Pyramids FC succumbed to a rib injury and had to be replaced in the 64th-minute mark by Mohamed Shehata, as Egypt played out a pulsating goalless draw against Angola.
As Egypt gears up for the Benin showdown, coach Hossam Hassan has disclosed the enterprising midfielder will be assessed at training on Sunday, alongside players suffering from bruises.
“Any team suffers from injuries and bruises, and we have Mohannad Lasheen who has not entered the team’s training since his injury until now, but Mustafa Mohamed returned to participate in training normally yesterday, Saturday, and everyone is fully ready.”
“We will assess Mohannad Lasheen’s condition in today’s training session, as well as that of any player suffering from bruises.”
Benin finished third with 3 points, securing qualification as one of the best 4 third-placed teams, while Senegal topped the group with 7 points, leading on goal difference over the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Egypt, on the other hand, topped Group B following an impressive performance in the group stages.
