Egypt attacker Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet says he will present when his outfit takes on Ivory Coast in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Pharaohs, who are the recorders holders of the continental showpiece are gearing up for a high-stake quarterfinals clash against defending champions, Ivory Coast on Saturday, January 10, 2026.
It promises to be a thrilling encounter, as both teams will be seeking for victory to secure a place in the semifinals of the AFCON tournament, being held in Morocco.
Trezeguet suffered a torn ankle ligament during the match against Benin in the last 16 and was a major doubt for the Ivory Coast game.
But at the pre-match conference, the enterprising attacker disclosed he will be present for the Ivory Coast showdown.
“After my injury in the Benin match, the medical staff worked with me to recover from the injury, and God willing, I will be present in front of Ivory Coast.”
“I am making great efforts to catch up with the match, and I am at the disposal of the Egyptian national team’s coaching staff, led by Hossam Hassan, at any time.”
Egypt have won the AFCON seven times in their history and are pushing for their eighth title in the 35th edition in Morocco.
The winner of the match between Egypt and Ivory Coast will take on the winner of Senegal and Mali in the semifinals next week.
