Brahim Díaz continued his remarkable run at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Friday night, scoring to inspire Morocco to a 2-0 victory over Cameroon in their quarter-final clash.
The win at Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah sends the Atlas Lions into the semi-finals as they pursue the tournament trophy on home soil.
The match had an early setback for Cameroon, as defender Junior Tchamadeu was forced off due to injury in the 23rd minute, replaced by Junior Dina Ebimbe.
After the disruption, Morocco seized control, with Díaz opening the scoring in the 26th minute. The forward used his strength and positioning to force the ball over the line from a corner kick after a flick by Ayoub El Kaabi, giving the hosts the advantage.
Morocco continued to create chances, with Abde Ezzalzouli testing the Cameroonian defence and forcing a near miss from the edge of the box. The decisive second goal came in the 74th minute, when a precise long pass found Ismael Saibari, who struck a low drive into the right side of the goal to seal the victory.
With the 2-0 win at full-time, Morocco are through to the semi-finals of AFCON 2025, where they will face the winner of the other semi-final match between Algeria and Nigeria.
The Atlas Lions’ combination of skill, determination, and home advantage positions them as strong contenders for the AFCON 2025 title.
