Algeria showed class on Wednesday, beating Sudan 3-0 in their opening match at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The North Africans took the lead just two minutes into the match, as Riyad Mahrez put Algeria ahead with a clinical finish.
Mahrez was not done yet, as he found the back of the net once again in the 61st minute to double Algeria’s lead.
Sudan struggled to contain Algeria’s attacking flair, and their task was made even more difficult when Ibrahim Maza added a third goal for the Desert Foxes in the 85th minute.
Maza’s goal put the result beyond doubt and sealed a convincing victory for the Algerian side.
