Agadir offered a touching send-off to the Egyptian national team on Monday evening as the delegation departed the city for Tangier ahead of their African Cup of Nations semi-final against Senegal.
Staff at the hotel where the Pharaohs had been staying formed a guard of honour, lining up to applaud the players and officials as they made their way out. The warm farewell was captured in a video that quickly spread online, showing the strong bond built between the team and the local hosts during their stay in the coastal city.
Egypt will face Senegal on Wednesday in Tangier, marking their first match away from Agadir, which had hosted all of their previous games in the tournament. The move signals a new phase in their campaign as they edge closer to continental glory.
The Pharaohs are chasing their first AFCON title since 2010 in Angola. They topped Group B with seven points after victories over Zimbabwe and South Africa and a draw with Angola, before defeating Benin in the round of 16 and eliminating defending champions Ivory Coast in the quarter-finals.
