Ahead of Mozambique’s crucial encounter against Cape Verde in the ongoing African Cup of Nations, João Bonde, a key figure in the national team, has underscored the team’s unwavering focus on securing qualification to the next phase of the tournament.

The Mozambique Mambas, eager to rewrite their history in the African Cup of Nations, have set their sights on progressing beyond the group stage, a feat they have yet to achieve.

João Bonde, a representative of Mozambique in Ivory Coast, expressed this determination, emphasizing that qualification stands as the primary objective for the team.

“As we approach the next match against the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde, qualifying for the next phase is the priority for the team,” stated João Bonde.

While exuding optimism about the prospect, the Mozambican striker made it clear that the team will not underestimate their opponents, stressing the importance of respecting the adversary.

Reflecting on Mozambique’s performance against Egypt on January 14, where they secured a draw and came close to clinching a victory, João Bonde acknowledged the team’s resilience.

Despite conceding a late equalizer in stoppage time, the Mambas demonstrated their capability to challenge formidable opponents, setting the stage for an intriguing clash against Cape Verde.

As Mozambique aims for a historic qualification, the team remains focused on the task at hand, navigating the challenges of Group B with an unwavering determination to advance in the AFCON 2023 tournament.
