The national football team of Guinea, known as Syli National, has received the official national flag in a ceremonious event presided over by the President of the Transition, Mamadi Doumbouya. The symbolic occasion marks the commencement of the team’s mission as they prepare to embark on their journey. The team is scheduled to depart for Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
With just 15 days remaining until the kickoff of AFCON 2023 in Cameroon, the Syli National, led by coach Kaba Diawara and his coaching staff, participated in the customary flag-giving ceremony in the presence of key dignitaries, including the Minister of Youth and Sports and the Head of State, Mamadi Doumbouya.
The event served as a poignant send-off for the team before their departure from the capital, Conakry.
Sources indicate that the team is set to commence its training camp in Abu Dhabi, departing from Conakry on December 30. As part of their preparation, a friendly match against Nigeria is scheduled for January 8, 2024, prior to the squad’s journey to the tournament venue in Ivory Coast, slated for January 12, 2024.
In Group C of the tournament, Guinea is slated to face Cameroon on January 15, 2024, followed by encounters with Gambia on January 19, 2024, and Senegal on January 23, 2024. The rigorous schedule awaits the Guinean team as they strive to make a mark in the highly anticipated competition.
