The senior national team of Ghana are to camp in Johannesburg, South Africa latest by December 31st, 2023 to commence preparations for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament slated for next month, spanning from January 13th to February 11th.
The camping is supposed to last for a period of 10 days with a friendly match in between against Botswana on January 8 before departing for the tournament.
The Black Stars training will not be open to the public nor the media per the technical team report.
The Black Stars have been paired with Mozambique, Cape Verde, Africa’s best with regards to the tournament, the Pharaoh’s of Egypt in Group B,
Ghana would be opening their accounts against Cape Verde on January 14, 2024, at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny in Abidjan.
In four days’ time, the Black Stars will play against the experienced African giants Egypt and close their group games with Mozambique and thus the final group game.
Head coach Chris Hughton is expected to name his final squad for the tournament on January 3, 2023, selecting a 55-man provisional squad list.
Southampton winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has been ruled out of the tournament due to an injury he is carrying.
