
DR Congo national team head coach Sebastien Desabre has revealed his final squad list for the forthcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire next month.
The French gaffer announced a 24-man roster for the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations that will run from January 13 to February 11, 2024, across five cities.
The list that was released on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, included France-born striker Simon Banza, who has been lethal for his club this season.
The 27-year-old currently leads the top scoring chart in the Portuguese Liga with 13 goals in 14 appearances along with three assists.
Banza made his debut for the Leopards in October this year when he came on as a substitute in the international friendly match against New Zealand.
Desabre’s list can also boast of experienced players like Chancel Mbemba Mangulu, who is living up to expectation at Olympique Marseille, and striker Cedric Bakambu.
Former England youth player Grady Diangana and former Chelsea youth star Gael Kakuta made the cut to the Congolese squad for the AFCON.
DR Congo are housed in Group F of the tournament, where they will face tournament favourites Morocco, 2012 champions Zambia and Tanzania.
