SOFIANE FEGHOULI: “ALGERIA TO FACE THREE FINALS IN GROUP C”
Placed in the fearsome Group C of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, Algeria’s Sofiane Feghouli knows the road to the knockout stages won’t be easy. With Ghana, South Africa, and Senegal as group rivals, the Fennecs will have to battle some of the strongest sides on the continent between January 17 and February 8 in Equatorial Guinea.
Speaking to Le Buteur, Feghouli acknowledged the high level of competition:
“Group C is very tough, with the presence of two teams that played in the last World Cup in Brazil: Algeria and Ghana. South Africa impressed at the 2010 World Cup, and Senegal is a top African footballing nation.”
Feghouli particularly highlighted Ghana as one of the heavy favorites:
“They performed well at the last World Cup and have excellent players. Ghana is clearly one of the big contenders for the title.”
The Algerian international also praised Senegal, calling them:
“A great footballing nation with strong performances during the qualifiers.”
And on South Africa, he added:
“They are a quality side, full of talented players, and their World Cup experience shows.”
Despite the challenge, Feghouli remains confident:
“We’ll have to study all three teams closely. We’re going into this with the mindset of playing three finals. The first match is crucial, and we’ll do everything we can to start this AFCON well.”
