AFCON 2015 – Cameroon Unveils Squad Without Song and Chedjou
Cameroon has released its final 23-man squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, with two major absentees: Alexandre Song and Aurélien Chedjou. Coach Volker Finke made the bold decision to exclude the experienced duo, both of whom featured in the 2014 World Cup.
In contrast, Clinton N’Jie, the rising star from Olympique Lyonnais, has earned his first call-up for a major tournament. He joins a forward line that includes Vincent Aboubakar, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, and Benjamin Moukandjo.
Also noteworthy is the inclusion of two FC Barcelona players, young goalkeeper Fabrice Ondoua and defender Franck Bagnack, highlighting Finke’s commitment to youth development.
The team will be led by captain Stéphane Mbia, whose leadership has been key since the World Cup. Cameroon is placed in a tough Group D alongside Ivory Coast, Mali, and Guinea.
