Eyong Enoh: “Cameroon Must Take It One Match at a Time”
As the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations draws near, Cameroon midfielder Eyong Enoh has emphasized the importance of a step-by-step approach for the Indomitable Lions. Speaking to Camfoot, the Standard Liège player expressed confidence in his team’s preparation, but warned against looking too far ahead.
“I think we’ll take it match by match. The first match against Mali will be the most important for us. Once we’ve made a good start, it will give us confidence,” said Enoh. “We won’t win the CAN right away. We need to win the first match first—and then surprises will follow.”
The Cameroonian squad is currently in training camp, with Enoh confirming a strong spirit and focus among the players:
“Everyone here is focused. We had our first session this morning, and there will be another this afternoon. We are waiting for the rest of the group to arrive tonight. There are two key words: concentration and discipline.”
Placed in a challenging Group D alongside Ivory Coast, Mali, and Guinea, Cameroon faces a tough road. But with the right mindset, Enoh believes the Lions can meet expectations.
“Everything that happened during the qualifiers is in the past. It’s a new year and a new challenge. We have to work hard and start strong.”
