Ademola Lookman, the talented midfielder who played a crucial role in Nigeria’s campaign in the recently concluded AFCON 2023, is set to miss Atalanta’s upcoming match against Sassuolo. The 26-year-old, known for his influential performances, sustained a sprained left ankle, hampering his return to action with the Italian club.

Lookman’s notable contributions to the Super Eagles included three goals and one assist in seven AFCON appearances.

Despite his commendable efforts, Nigeria faced a 2-1 defeat against Ivory Coast in the final.

Following his return to Italy, Lookman’s anticipated participation in Atalanta’s clash against Sassuolo on Saturday has been dashed due to the unfortunate ankle injury.

The revelation of Lookman’s injury came to light through Il Corriere della Sera, raising concerns among Atalanta supporters who were eager to witness the midfielder’s prowess on the domestic stage.

The sprained left ankle is expected to sideline Lookman for the immediate future, with the club yet to specify the duration of his absence.

Lookman’s setback highlights the physical toll that intensive international competitions like the CAN can have on players, often leading to post-tournament injuries.

Atalanta, currently navigating the challenges of Serie A, will need to adjust their lineup for the upcoming fixture without the services of the influential midfielder.

As the news circulates within the football community, fans express their best wishes for Ademola Lookman’s swift recovery.

His absence from the pitch is undoubtedly a blow for Atalanta, but supporters remain hopeful for his speedy rehabilitation and return to action in the forthcoming matches.

The dynamic midfielder’s impact on the field has not gone unnoticed, and his return to full fitness will be eagerly awaited by both club and country.
