Atalanta Bergamo forward Ademola Lookman has set his sights on being crowned the best African player of the year, reflecting on his strong performances for both club and country this season. The Nigerian international, who was part of the winning Europa League squad last season, has emerged as one of the top contenders for the prestigious accolade.

Lookman has been in excellent form, contributing two goals in the Champions League and eight in Serie A, making a significant impact in both domestic and European competitions.

His consistent displays have earned him widespread recognition, and he now finds himself among the front-runners for the coveted title of Africa’s best player.

In an interview with Canal+, Lookman shared his aspirations for the award, stating, “I make efforts every day. I want to improve every day. So for me, it would be great to win this trophy.

And I do everything I can to reach this goal.” His commitment to continuous improvement is evident in his performances this season, which have firmly established him as one of the standout players in the Italian league.

The 26-year-old’s rise to prominence has not gone unnoticed, and with the first half of the season now complete, Lookman’s name is being mentioned alongside other top African footballers vying for the prestigious individual award.

His versatility, work ethic, and ability to deliver in crucial moments have made him a key player for Atalanta, and he is keen to take his game to even greater heights as he seeks to fulfil his ambition of winning the African Player of the Year title.
