It’s a nightmare unfolding for Tottenham this afternoon at the Hawthorns against West Bromwich Albion. Spurs find themselves trailing 3-1 at halftime, a stark reflection of their 16th position in the Premier League standings. The match kicked off with a rapid succession of events, with Vydra finding the net just 30 seconds into the game. Two minutes later, Brunt capitalized on a defensive lapse to beat Lloris.

Tottenham managed to claw back with a penalty opportunity, as Emmanuel Adebayor charged forward only to be brought down by Foster. Interestingly, Adebayor’s last penalty miss in the Premier League dated back to 2011 against WBA, with Foster in goal then as well. Sessegnon extended West Brom’s lead in the 30th minute, exploiting Chiriches’ defensive error.

Spurs showed signs of life towards the end of the half, as Olsson scored an own goal from Lennon’s cross. Could this be the start of a Tottenham comeback? The second half promises to be gripping.

Emmanuel Adebayor has only missed one penalty in his Premier League career out of ten spot-kicks, and it was against WBA in November 2011 – with Foster making the save again.
