Adama Traore expressed his delight after marking his first full start for West Ham United with victory in the FA Cup fourth round against Burton Albion on Saturday.
The January signing from Wolverhampton Wanderers was handed a place in the starting XI and played a key role as the Hammers progressed in the competition.
For the Spanish international of Malian descent, the occasion represented more than just another appearance.
Having arrived during the winter window, the winger has been steadily building match sharpness, and the start offered a timely opportunity to showcase his qualities from the outset.
“I’m so happy to have more minutes on the clock,” he told the club’s website. “It was very nice to start the game and help the team, and we’re really pleased to have got the win in the end.”
The Spaniard also highlighted the positive atmosphere within the squad, pointing to a strong bond both on and off the pitch.
“We have a very good team, and there are very good people both inside and outside of the pitch. I’m really happy to be here, to be back with the manager, and also to work with great individuals. We’re working hard, and I hope we’re able to keep showing this connection on the pitch.”
Traore reserved special praise for the West Ham supporters, whose backing he described as a source of inspiration.
“The fans here are amazing too, and the way they sing is so passionate. I said when I signed about how I used to follow the fans when I was younger, and the way they are resonates with me because I’m passionate also.”
With fitness improving and confidence growing, Traore is eager to contribute consistently as the season unfolds.
“For me, I’m trying to achieve the team’s objective, and I’m really pleased to have been out there from the start. It’s good for my form and fitness, I’m feeling better with every game, and I just want to keep pushing forwards.”
