Bayern Munich’s left wing is struggling from a terrible injury crisis, and the absence of promising talent Adam Aznou is more noticeable than ever.
With Alphonso Davies sidelined by a cruciate ligament rupture and other injured players the Bundesliga giants are stretched thin. Aznou, an 18-year-old gem who joined Bayern from Barcelona’s youth ranks in 2022, could have been the answer.
Instead, he’s thriving on loan at Real Valladolid, where he was sent in February 2024 to gain top-tier experience. The move made sense then, but Bayern’s current woes have sparked second-guessing behind closed doors.
Aznou has seized his chance in Spain, cementing himself as a regular despite Valladolid’s struggles. Still, sports director Christoph Freund shut down talk of an early return: “The possibility that we could bring him back is now not at all,” he said ahead of the FC St. Pauli clash.
Bayern remains committed to Aznou long-term his deal runs until 2027 but for now, he’s out of reach. With the Club World Cup looming, squad depth and youth integration have never mattered more.
