Achraf Hakimi Lawyer reveals key details in ongoing alleged rape case
Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi remains embroiled in legal proceedings following a rape allegation, even as he helped his team secure progression to the UEFA Champions League round of 16 against Monaco on Wednesday.
Hakimi’s lawyer, Fanny Collin, provided an update on the case during an appearance on BFM TV, outlining the Moroccan international’s version of events and highlighting several disputed elements in the complaint.
According to Collin, Hakimi had been communicating with the complainant for three to four weeks via Instagram before arranging to meet.
She explained that Hakimi repeatedly suggested meeting in a public setting with friends, which was declined, and that the eventual meeting took place at his residence, with both parties spending about an hour together peacefully before the complainant left.
Collin also criticised what she described as obstruction on the part of the complainant. She stated that Hakimi fully cooperated with investigators, providing a DNA sample and his phone number, while the complainant allegedly refused available medical examinations that could have supported her account, and failed to identify a key witness involved prior to the meeting.
The lawyer further noted that messages indicating a plan to defraud Hakimi existed on the complainant’s devices, but she claimed neither Hakimi nor his team attempted to conceal these communications from authorities.
Collin further emphasised that the indictment does not encompass the entirety of the case file and highlighted expert analysis indicating that while the complainant is not prone to mental fabrication, this does not necessarily verify the accuracy of her statements.
Hakimi and the complainant are expected to appear before the Court of Appeal, and potentially a lower court, to address the remaining issues as the case continues.
