Moroccan sensation Achraf Hakimi has revealed that winning the 2025 African Player of the Year award has become one of his biggest ambitions as he continues to shine for both club and country.

Speaking ahead of PSG’s crucial UEFA Champions League encounter with Bayern Munich, the highly-rated right-back admitted that the thought of being crowned Africa’s best player is now a dream he genuinely believes in.

“I don’t think about it constantly, but now that I have a chance to win it, it’s become a dream. I’ve worked very hard to win titles, both team and individual, and I think I deserve it after the season I’ve had,” said the 26-year-old.

Hakimi has been a key figure in PSG’s impressive campaign so far, combining defensive solidity with attacking flair.

His consistency, leadership, and overall impact have placed him among the leading contenders for the prestigious CAF award, which will be announced on November 19.

Whether or not he takes home the trophy, Hakimi’s continued excellence stands as a testament to his discipline, ambition, and enduring influence in African football.

Meanwhile, the defender has been named in the 2025 FIFPRO Men’s World 11.
