Achraf Bencharki scores in third competition for Al Ahly as foreign goals record grows

Achraf Bencharki continued his scoring run for Al Ahly by heading a late winner against El Mokawloon Al Arab in the second round of the Capital Cup.

The Morocco forward struck in the 93rd minute at Cairo Stadium, converting a cross from Mohamed Hany to secure a 1-0 victory for Al Ahly.

The result moved Al Ahly to six points at the top of Group Three.

The goal was Bencharki’s third for the club this season and his first in the Capital Cup. He has now scored for Al Ahly in three separate competitions: the Egyptian Premier League, the Egyptian Super Cup and the Capital Cup.

Before finding the net against El Mokawloon Al Arab, Bencharki had scored against ZED and El Qanah in the Egyptian Premier League. Those two goals came across 10 appearances in the competition.

The latest strike took Bencharki’s overall Al Ahly tally to 12 goals in 63 matches for the club.

He has also moved into 10th place among Al Ahly’s highest-scoring foreign players.

Bencharki is behind Amado Flavio, Ahmed Felix, Ali Maaloul, Walid Azaro, Junior Ajayi, Wessam Abou Ali, Percy Tau, Osama Youssef and Malik Evouna on the club’s all-time list of foreign scorers.
