AC Milan’s head coach, Stefano Pioli, has recently drawn comparisons between Samuel Chukwueze and Christian Pulisic, both occupying similar positions within the team. In a press conference, Pioli emphasized that Chukwueze must focus on enhancing his goal-scoring abilities and overall contribution to secure a prominent spot in the starting lineup.
Since his acquisition for 28 million euros in the summer transfer window, Samuel Chukwueze has encountered challenges in solidifying his position as the primary choice in his designated role.
Currently, the Nigerian international finds himself in a supporting role, overshadowed by the consistent performances of Christian Pulisic. Pioli addressed inquiries from the media regarding this positional dynamics.
In response, the Italian coach highlighted the prolific scoring attributes of Christian Pulisic, a facet where Chukwueze needs improvement, at least for the time being.
Pioli underscored the need for Chukwueze to contribute more actively to the team’s goal-scoring endeavors to earn a more prominent role in the starting lineup.
“Pulisic and Chukwueze have the same characteristics. Pulisic scores goals, assists, and works. Chukwueze has to score goals, he has to get assists, and he has to work,” remarked Stefano Pioli during the press conference.
As of now, Samuel Chukwueze has participated in 15 matches, with 7 starts in the league, yet to score a goal and providing a single assist. In contrast,
Pulisic boasts a more significant impact, featuring in 24 games, including 22 starts, contributing with 7 goals and 6 assists.
The noticeable contrast in the goal-scoring statistics underscores Pioli’s emphasis on Chukwueze’s need to elevate his offensive contributions.
This insightful comparison by Pioli serves as a call to action for Chukwueze to refine his offensive skills, striving for greater goal-scoring efficacy and overall productivity on the field, with the ultimate aim of securing a more influential role within AC Milan’s lineup.
