AC Milan are set to secure the signing of 18-year-old attacking midfielder Alphadjo Cissé, the Italian Under-20 international of Guinean descent.
The move comes after PSV Eindhoven, who had previously been in advanced talks, were reportedly outmaneuvered by the Rossoneri.
Cissé, currently on loan at Serie B side Catanzaro, had been expected to join PSV in the Eredivisie. Negotiations had progressed to a verbal agreement, with the player himself showing interest in a move to the Dutch club.
Catanzaro, however, sought a financial solution to allow the early departure of their prized talent, which complicated the deal.
Until last week, PSV were optimistic about finalising the transfer. Italian media, meanwhile, reported AC Milan’s interest in acting swiftly to secure Cissé before his expected arrival in Eindhoven.
Recent reports indicate that Cissé now prefers to remain in Italy for the remainder of the season. AC Milan are understood to have agreed a deal valued at around €8 million, with plans to allow the midfielder to complete the campaign at Catanzaro before joining the Rossoneri squad.
PSV Eindhoven are likely to be disappointed by the outcome, having identified Cissé as a key acquisition for the club’s future.
The Dutch side had planned for the young talent to fill a potential gap left by players like Ismaël Saibari, expected to depart next summer.
Cissé’s move to AC Milan highlights the growing interest from top European clubs in young Italian internationals, particularly those with dual heritage.
The 18-year-old midfielder has shown strong technical ability, vision, and versatility in Serie B and at youth international level, making him a highly sought-after prospect for both domestic and continental competitions.
AC Milan’s strategy of investing in promising youth aligns with the club’s ambition to blend experienced talent with rising stars, ensuring long-term squad depth while nurturing future leaders of the team.
