AC Milan are preparing a third bid to sign Ivorian right-back Guéla Doué from RC Strasbourg, as the Serie A giants intensify efforts to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the new season.
Following unsuccessful attempts to sign Almería’s Marc Pubill—who is now close to joining Atlético Madrid—Milan have turned their full attention to Doué, one of the standout performers at Strasbourg under manager Liam Rosenior.
The Italian side had already submitted two offers, initially valued at €15 million and later increased to €18 million, but both were rejected by the French club.
Now, according to reports from Italian journalist Matteo Moretto and Calciomercato, Milan are readying a third proposal worth around €22 million, including performance-based bonuses.
However, this figure still falls short of Strasbourg’s valuation, with the Ligue 1 side reportedly holding out for at least €30 million to consider parting with the 21-year-old full-back.
Doué, currently under contract with Strasbourg until June 2029, has become a vital component of the team since breaking into the senior side. In the 2024–2025 campaign, he featured in 34 league matches, registering one goal and two assists.
His contributions on both ends of the pitch have earned him widespread praise, particularly for his defensive discipline, pace, and ability to support attacking transitions.
Despite being valued at €18 million by Transfermarkt, Strasbourg have made it clear they are not under pressure to sell. The club sees Doué as a long-term asset and is reluctant to lose him unless their financial expectations are fully met.
Milan’s persistence, however, signals a strong commitment to bringing the Ivorian international to San Siro.
The Rossoneri view Doué as a critical addition to their defensive setup, particularly in light of recent departures and injuries that have affected their squad depth.
With the new Serie A season on the horizon and Milan also competing in Europe, bolstering the right side of their defence has become a top priority.
Doué currently earns an annual salary of €900,000 at Strasbourg, a figure Milan would be willing to improve significantly to secure his services.
His profile fits the club’s recruitment strategy, which prioritises young, athletic players with room to grow, and his previous Ligue 1 experience could help ease his transition to the Italian top flight.
While Milan’s current offer is believed to be close to their financial limit for the deal, sources suggest there could still be room for negotiation if Strasbourg signal a willingness to compromise.
The next few days are expected to be decisive, as the Rossoneri weigh up whether to increase their bid further or shift focus to alternative targets.
For now, Guéla Doué remains a Strasbourg player, but his future hangs in the balance as Milan continue to push. With both clubs holding firm in their positions, the outcome of this potential transfer could hinge on whether either side is prepared to adjust their stance to strike a deal before the summer window closes.
