Zakaria El Ouahdi has been offered to AC Milan following his recent debut for the Moroccan national team under coach Walid Regragui, according to reports in Italy.
The 23-year-old right-back, who plays for Belgian side KRC Genk, earned his first international cap during Morocco’s 1-0 friendly win over Benin on 9 June.
He started the match and played 82 minutes, capitalising on the absence of first-choice full-back Achraf Hakimi, who was rested for the fixture.
El Ouahdi had previously been included in Regragui’s squad in September 2024 but did not feature in matches against Gabon and Lesotho.
His latest international appearance follows a standout season with Genk, where he featured in 40 matches, starting 38 of them, and registered eight goals and two assists from his defensive position.
That form, coupled with his contribution to Morocco’s bronze medal win at the Olympic Games in August 2024, has attracted attention from top European clubs.
Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that El Ouahdi has been offered to AC Milan as the Rossoneri seek to rebuild after a disappointing domestic campaign that saw them finish eighth in Serie A, missing out on European qualification.
With the club under pressure to strengthen key areas of the squad, particularly in defence, the Moroccan has emerged as a potential candidate.
El Ouahdi is under contract with Genk until 2028 and is currently valued at €12 million, according to Transfermarkt.
While there is no official bid reported yet, his availability has been made known to Milan’s recruitment team as they draw up targets for the summer transfer window.
For El Ouahdi, a move to the San Siro would mark a significant step in his career.
His steady progression through the ranks, combined with his growing international exposure, positions him as a versatile and energetic option at right-back—attributes Milan are understood to be prioritising.
The coming weeks will likely determine whether Milan formalise their interest in the Moroccan defender.
As the club prepare to rebuild under a new sporting direction, opportunities for young, high-potential players like El Ouahdi may become more prominent.
