Reda Belahyane, the young Moroccan defensive midfielder who joined Hellas Verona in January 2024, has been steadily making a name for himself in Serie A.

In an interview with Maghreb Foot, former Moroccan international Abdelilah Saber, a prominent figure in the nation’s golden football generation of the 1990s, weighed in on what he believes would be the best move for Belahyane’s burgeoning career.
“I think there are clubs that are following Reda Belahyane closely, and according to my information, Milan and other teams are interested in him.
This is a very good start for a player who is only twenty years old,” Saber stated. He emphasized the importance of remaining in Serie A, explaining, “For a player occupying the defensive midfield position, it would be better for him to stay in Serie A, especially considering his quick adaptation to the environment of this championship and his notable development.”
Belahyane has drawn comparisons to Morocco’s midfield dynamo Sofyan Amrabat due to his physicality and technical abilities.
Saber elaborated on the similarities, noting, “His abilities shown with the Verona team, as well as the similarity of his playing style with that of Sofyan Amrabat in terms of physical generosity, in addition to his technical and artistic skills, make him a player who will have a promising future in the years to come.”
Despite growing interest from some of Europe’s top clubs, Saber’s advice to Belahyane reflects a strategic focus on continued growth and consistency.
