Abdel Nasser Mohamed, Zamalek’s director of football, stressed that the club is going through an exceptional sporting crisis caused by a heavy bill of injuries and suspensions.
He explained that Zamalek are currently without 8 players at once due to injury, including Abdallah El Said, Nabil Emad Dunga, Mahmoud Jihad, Ahmed Rabie, Amr Nasser, Adam Kaid, Ahmed Abdel Rahim Isho, and Baron Ochieng, most of whom are in the final stages of rehabilitation.
He added: “Zamalek will be missing 17 key players; in addition to injuries, there are international absences” with several stars away on international duty with Egypt, Tunisia and Angola. He continued: “The absence of Saif Jaafar due to accumulated cards, and Ahmed Hamdi for internal reasons, has left the coaching staff facing a real dilemma,” noting that only seven fully fit first‑team players remain, led by Omar Gaber, El Wensh, and Nasser Maher.
Mohamed firmly denied talk of a player revolt or training boycott, clarifying that the remaining players were rested to avoid fatigue despite their desire to play in the Egypt Capital Cup.
He announced that Zamalek will rely on a full squad from the youth side in the League Cup, praising the first‑team players as “loyal men” and assuring fans that Zamalek will not collapse and that the current crises are on their way to being resolved.
