In a spectacular display of advancement and solidarity, WAFU-B continues to excel in football development in the region.
At an important meeting with CAF President Patrice Motsepe and WAFU Zone B leaders in Cairo prior to CAF’s 14th Extraordinary General Assembly, President Kurt Okraku presented an inspiring address of the zone’s recent triumphs and ambitious future vision.
One of them is the smooth conduction of two crucial programs that included conducting training on strategies to be utilised by communicators in respect of football affairs and the Zone’s protocols as well.
Most importantly, those training programs improve the communication levels, operational standards, and above all, serve as a more effective foundation building professionalism within the walls of WAFU-B.
The Executive Director was appreciated by President Okraku for his hard work and great talent investment, which has been highly responsible for moving the zone forward.
Strong leadership has brought the WAFU-B a profound administrative overhaul.
The Secretariat has gained streamlined operations, collaboration, and innovation with the injection of mixed expertise.
Such a strategy has enhanced cohesion with each member association deeply, with each federation’s various needs and demands effectively met.
In the spirit of diversification, WAFU-B has reaffirmed its commitment to unity and collective progress and fostered a spirit of cooperation that gives the entire football ecosystem of the region in general.
Uppermost among the priorities of the organization has been the sustained development of human capacity and skills development capacity among its manpower.
In this belief that individuals are the best asset, WAFU-B invested in a complete range of training courses and workshops for the professionalization of its personnel.
Only time will tell whether such investments in professional development and education are in the long-term vision of the zone to maintain football excellence.
President Okraku made the revelation that the WAFU-B headquarters is moving to Abidjan and beginning a new chapter in the history of the zone.
He invited all the stakeholders to the official opening on April 27, 2025, emphasizing the significance of this milestone in improving WAFU-B’s level of operation efficiency.
The new headquarters will serve as a focal point for the development of football and building closer relationships within the region.
WAFU-B, in the immediate future, will be hosting at least five youth competitions for girls and boys in the current year.
These competitions will not only spur the competitive nature of Member Associations but also serve as a stage for the youth talents to exhibit their brilliance.
This move goes hand in hand with CAF President Patrice Motsepe’s dream for African football—towards growth, development, and international prominence.
As the zone prepares to conduct new offices on March 12, 2025, President Okraku wished them well, further stating that their elections were a time for leadership elections and, in so doing, how their future of WAFU-B will ultimately take shape.
This is not an individualized aspirational moment nor an uncoordinated fate.
During his valedictory address, President Okraku expressed deep gratitude to all stakeholders for their unwavering support and dedication.
Their work has been invaluable in WAFU-B’s history, and he reconfirmed his commitment to working together in a bid to drive football in the region to higher levels.
WAFU-B will embark on a period of great expansion, and with vision, leadership, and a concerted effort, football in the area will certainly flourish and assume its rightful position on the global scene.
