Jean-Paul Abalo Dosseh has been appointed as the new coach of the Togo national team, succeeding Didier Six. Dosseh, a former captain of the Eperviers, was selected from among five candidates by the Technical Recruitment Committee. Internal sources from the Hearing Committee confirmed this information.
Dosseh is expected to sign a nine-month contract, ending just after the African Cup of Nations in Morocco 2015, with an option to renew based on performance. His primary objective will be to qualify Togo for the next continental tournament. His official appointment is imminent, and he will be tasked with assembling his coaching staff.
Having represented Togo for 16 years, Dosseh earned 67 caps and participated in the 2002 and 2006 African Cup of Nations. He also captained the team during their sole appearance in a FIFA World Cup in 2006. As a defender, he had a successful professional career, primarily with Amiens SC, reaching the Coupe de France final in 2001. He later played for clubs such as APOEL Nicosia, Ethnikos Asteras (Cyprus), and Al Merreikh Omdurman (Sudan), where he was a finalist in the CAF Cup in 2007.
Since retiring from playing, Dosseh has obtained coaching qualifications and has been involved in coaching at FC Déols in the Division of Honor in France.
