Gerardo Martino, the current coach of FC Barcelona, is uncertain about his future with the Catalan club beyond the current season. With Martino’s departure appearing increasingly likely, Barcelona is reportedly searching for a new coach for the upcoming season.
While the name of Luis Enrique from Celta Vigo has been circulating recently as a potential candidate, another name that has emerged is Ernesto Valverde from Athletic Bilbao.
However, according to reports from L’Equipe, Valverde was approached by Barcelona’s sports director, Andoni Zubizarreta, but politely declined the offer. Valverde expressed his desire to continue leading his Basque team into the next Champions League campaign.
Athletic Bilbao, currently positioned well in La Liga, is almost guaranteed to secure a place in the Champions League next season.
